Frequently Asked Questions
A chiropractic adjustment/manipulation is the skill of using a specific force in a precise direction, applied to a joint that is fixated, “locked up”, or not moving properly. This adds motion to the joint, helping the joints to gradually regain more normal motion and function. The purpose of this safe and natural procedure is to permit improved spinal function.
Chiropractors are primary healthcare practitioners therefore a referral is not necessary for privately funded patients. A referral from your Doctor is required if your visits are funded by Medicare, The Department of Veterans affairs or WorkCover.
Your first visit will involve reviewing your medical history and goals of treatment followed by a thorough clinical examination. When a preliminary diagnosis is reached and if it is appropriate to do so treatment will be given on your initial consult.
Any medical imaging (x-rays, MRIs etc) you have had in the past and any doctors letters or referrals you have been given. If you have private health insurance please bring along your card as you can claim on the spot and also a Medicare card if you have been referred via an EPC/CDM by your Doctor.
